Within the 16 Days of Activism, was held the panel discussion “Trans Women are Women!”.
For a brighter future, without violence against women and girls, we are marking the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence with this year’s global theme “End Violence Against Women Now!”.
“Trans women are women! ” is the topic of the panel discussion, thus calling to raise awareness, promote advocacy efforts and share knowledge regarding trans women.
Despite the progress of the transgender movement in recent times, which has resulted in greater public awareness and important legal victories, trans women in particular continue to face blatant discrimination, high levels of violence and a health system that does not adapt to the needs of theirs.
During this discussion, physical, psychological and sexual violence against trans women in Kosovo, access to medical services, including hormone therapy procedures and operations, rights and opportunities in employment and education, the approach of various institutions and actors in the country were highlighted. , as well as their acceptance by Kosovar society.
Trans Women are Women! – let’s not forget such a thing, and become allies of this vulnerable community by becoming their voice for equal rights and freedoms!
