Co-funded by the European Union in Kosovo and Embassy of Sweden in Pristina, this week we held a forum discussion in Gjilan with police officers from the region, focusing on the handling of cases affecting LGBTI+ communities and the role of the Kosovo Police in ensuring protection and equal access to justice.
The discussion addressed the legal framework safeguarding the rights of LGBTI+ persons, police practices and procedures for handling cases, the challenges police officers encounter in their daily work, and specific cases that enabled participants to exchange experiences and identify ways to improve the institutional response.
The forum provided an important space for open dialogue, trust-building, and stronger cooperation between institutions and civil society organizations, with the aim of creating a safer and more inclusive environment for all citizens, without distinction.
