CEL in collaboration with the Academy of Law held a training focusing on the importance of engaging criminal prosecutions to combat hate crime, early consideration of the impact of hate crimes on LGBTI+ people and focusing on the wider context of discrimination and prejudice that LGBTI+ people experience in Kosovo. Also discussed is the mainstreaming of the most relevant international standards and the latest in local legislation to combat hate crimes – and the practical applications of the most relevant international standards and local legislation that should support the effective prosecution of hate crimes against persons LGBTI+. This training was held within the project “Empowerment of LGBTI+ persons in Kosovo” which is implemented by the Center for Equality and Freedom (CEL Kosovo) and is supported within the Equality Engagement Program – E4E, funded by the United States Agency for Development International – USAID Kosovo and supported by the Advocacy Training and Resource Center – ATRC
