September 10, 2023
September marks the International Month of Suicide Prevention – a month to remember the lives lost to suicide, millions of people who have struggled with suicidal ideation, and to recognize the individuals, families, and communities that have been affected. It is also a time to increase awareness for suicide prevention and to share messages of hope. LGBTI+ communities experience higher rates of suicidal ideation, whether passive (thoughts) or active (thoughts and intentions/plans to act on them). Systematic social marginalization and often institutional marginalization unfortunately result in a significant number of mainly young people being subjected to this act. “Life Line” is a suicide prevention hotline in Kosovo that provides confidential and toll-free telephone service for all individuals with suicidal thoughts every day from 2:00 PM until 2:00 AM. During this time, calls are answered and managed by our volunteers who are specifically trained for online work. If you or someone you know needs to talk, Life Line is here for you. Call 0800 12345, from 2:00 PM to 02:00 AM.
