Report Launched and Debate Held on Hate Speech in Social Media

Hate speech on social media is harming LGBTQ+ communities, and someone needs to be held accountable and create protective mechanisms!

A powerful debate was held last night in the capital, organized by CEL Kosovo, following the publication of the report ‘Social Networks: Where Hate Flows Unchecked – Analysis of Key Trends of Hate Speech, Offensive and Inappropriate Language Against LGBTQ+ People’ authored by Aulona Kadriu.

Besa Luci from Kosovo 2.0, Medine Dauti from Dylberizmi, and Imer Mushkolaj from KMSHK – Kosovo Council of Written Media, engaged in a discussion, including the audience, on the role of the media in the daily lives of people who are part of the LGBTQ+ communities. The media plays a significant role in reducing and eliminating hate against LGBTQ+ citizens. This reduction occurs primarily by having media that is attentive to hate speech, inappropriate language, and inciting, divisive language against LGBTQ+ persons.
