Pride Week 2022, in its sixth edition, under the slogan “Even in the State, Even in the Family,”
reflected the denied presence and existence of LGBTQI+ individuals both within the state and
within families.
In a country where society and the family are fundamentally heteronormative
and patriarchal, it is the state’s duty to create security for individuals who do not feel safe from
the oppressive mindset produced by these two institutions. Political parties, the government, and
the presidency, on the other hand, do not prioritize LGBTQI+ rights; instead, queer individuals
are used by them to gain power.
On one hand, they appear progressive in closed-door meetings
with international partners and civil society, while on the other, they try to avoid topics of sexual
orientation and gender identity as much as possible in their campaigns and voter communication.
In 2022, the Pride Parade, in addition to being a celebration, was considered a peaceful resistance
to address issues related to the current situation of LGBTQI+ individuals.
