Organizations Center for Equality and Freedom – CEL and Center for Development of Social Groups – CSGD, strongly condemn the language used by the Ministry of Justice Officer Mr. Xhelajdin Krasniqi. Mr Krasniqi has described LGBTI persons as extreme degeneration, calls for killing and rape of LGBTI persons.

This public statement by Mr Xheladin Krasniqi is inciting and spreading hatred against LGBTI persons and as such is a criminal offense punishable by the Criminal Code of Kosovo. In addition, Mr. Xheladin Krasniqi’s homophobic statement is extremely offensive to LGBTI people. Therefore, CEL and CSGD will use all legal steps to hold Xheladin Kransic responsible for the statement.
CEL and CSGD condemn any hate speech directed at LGBTI persons or any other community living in Kosovo and enjoying protection under the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and other applicable laws.
All officials of the Government of Kosovo and other public institutions distributing hate speech must be held accountable and held accountable for such statements. Employees of public institutions receive salaries from the taxes of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo and must perform their duties in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of Kosovo which sanction hate speech and discrimination and promote inclusiveness and tolerance. Therefore the responsibility and accountability of these officials should be at a higher level. We demand that the Ministry of Justice take immediate disciplinary action against Xheladin Krasniqi for his statement.
