Rooms 617, 618, and 619 of the Grand Hotel in Prishtina are weighed down by brokenness. The same applies to the objects, people, emotions, beds, and televisions—silent witnesses. The hotel of impossible loves is just that: melancholic.
The exhibition ‘Heartbreak Hotel,’ implemented by CEL Kosova and curated by Simon Kurtin and Bjeshkë Guri, opened amidst strong emotions. For the three days it was open, the exhibition served as an intimate but not personal space, a metaphor for queer existence maneuvering in a world that often rejects it, yet persists through the constant balancing act between public and private spheres.
This exhibition was implemented with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports. Minister Hajrulla Çeku was one of the visitors on its opening night.
