The conference “Acceptance and legal recognition of LGBTQI+ persons” dealt with the issue of acceptance of LGBTQI+ children into the family, the violence they face and the problem of (not) including same-sex marriage in the Civil Code.
The opening words were delivered by the Mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama, the Deputy Ambassador of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Peter van der Bloemen, the Ambassador of Sweden in Kosovo, Karin Hernmarck and the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Pristina, Frank Power.
The first panel dealt with “(Mis)treatment of domestic violence” with Edi Gusia, Chief Executive Officer of the Agency for Gender Equality, Luljeta Demolli, Director of the Kosovo Center for Gender Studies, Shqipdona Zogjani, Social Worker and Miridhahe Syla, Activist, as panelists. .
While the second panel dealt with “(Non)recognition of same-sex marriage in the Civil Code” with Naim Qelaj, Ombudsman, Nazlije Balaj, Advisor to the Minister of Justice and Marigona Shabiu, Director of the Youth Initiative for the Rights of Humans, as panelists.
